Every child is a teacher this we experienced when we went to ASHA , Academy of severe handicaps & Autism. The ambience which greets us is uber cool with lovely colorful playground where you can find children playing. The teacher later informs us these are all part of their physical development & designed with special care individually. I enter with an open mind not knowing by end of the day I would be enriched. kanika who volunteers for this organisation informs me about the concept of two children & one teacher. She informs us that these children cant take changes easily , so they are very attached to the teachers. She explains the early intervention unit where they diagnose children with autism to later stages of the studies. We got a good insight of their life, their workings, how these children are geniuses where gadgets are concerned. She explained about the block printing these children are taught here , how to manage the block inside a square & the amount of pressure to be incorporated. Never knew all this before. It was a good hrd for Deepti & Cr. khushboo by Kanika. We sat with the children for sometime making them laugh & interact. We even took pictures of them & showed them how they looked in it as suggested by the Magic Wand. These small things which do not cost much but really made a big difference in their lives as well as ours…..We thought we were teachers but NO….we learnt as we shared & cared.
Learnt the art of patience from the teachers & volunteers who repeatedly do the same thing till the child is not satisfied. Learnt from the children that God has created them special…they have been bestowed upon by the highest art , color visualisation, maths whiz ….which our eyes can never perceive. Do visit coz some things can only be experienced & felt.
