The yearly mega fundraising event of SLC-72 6th Edition “SPLASH The Art Mela” happened this year on 27th October just a week before Diwali in Agrasen Bhawan, City Light, Surat. The preparations for the same started a month and a half before the event. It was meticulously planned with the wholehearted efforts of chairperson and her dynamic team of circlers and past circlers of SLC-72.
This annual event had become a synonym of SLC-72 which has generated a lot of publicity for us over the years. The most challenging part was to bring in maximum sponsorship for which our dedicated circlers left no stone unturned. A huge amount of sponsorship collection i.e. 2.35 lacs boosted our confidence to approach various schools for registration. The registration fees was kept very nominal at Rs.100 per participant.
All the twinklers also showed their unconditional support to bring in registrations door to door. Our joy knew no bounds when we made the final list of participants a day before the event which had touched the magic figure of 1000. The total profit generated through Art Mela landed at an estimated figure of 2.75 lakhs. Wow!!! Till now this was the highest ever participation in a drawing competition at Surat . But it had also added more responsibility on all of us for the smooth conduction of the entire programme.
On the D day, we gathered at the venue at 7 am and within an hour parents started coming in with their kids. Soon the centre became the most happening place in the town.
After the registrations all the participants were made seated on the floor of the huge hall of Agrasen Bhawan. Mean while the Lovely secretary LMF. Tr. Sumit Khuraana of SRT 135 engaged all the children in dance, fun and frolic activities before the start of the event. He also made them pray with their eyes closed and hand joined for winning the competition. Soon the venue was fully packed with kids.
The participants ranging from class 1st to 9th were divided into four groups class wise and were given topics like coloring, Landscape, Any Festival and Save the Girl Child. The competition started at 9:30am and continued till 12 pm. All the participants tried their best to put their imagination and expressions on paper and most of them came out with exquisite figures, vibrant paintings and beautiful shades of colors.
At the end of the competition all the parents were asked to attend the Award Ceremony. The hustle bustle of parents and kids looking for each other was once again settled by Tr. Sumit with the loud music of electrifying DJ and dance performances of the kids on stage. All the paintings were judged by the famous Art teachers of Surat. The prizes to all the winners and runner-up of each category were sponsored by Mega stores in Surat . Each participant was given a food packet worth Rs 50 as return gift at the exit gate which were sponsored by a leading departmental store called Dhiraj Sons. All the participants were given certificates after the competition.

One of our respected 41er Anurag Mehra came forward and explained the parents and children about Ladies Circle India, SLC-72 and SRT-135 that endeavors to support poor and needy children with a wish to lighten up their lives through education. As Art Mela Convenor I thanked them for their contribution towards weaker section of society who needs to be educated so that they can also paint the sky with their own desires.
Next morning, all the newspapers of Surat- Hindi, English, Gujarati carried great coverage & pictures of the event. Ladies Circle India & its associate SLC 72 has today become a known name in most of the schools of Surat, with so many students & their parents.
I must say that organizing an event on such scale would not have been possible by the untiring efforts of all the circlers and past circlers of SLC-72 straight from the heart. As always, the unconditional support twinklers, tablers and 41ers Club 104 boosted our confidence. The whole event ended up with building up high team spirit and bonding amongst all the circlers .We all gave it our best by believing in ourselves and hand in hand we all are moving Ek lakshya Ki Ore Together.

“Give it your best by believing in yourself ”
Hand in Hand lets move,
