On 30th November 2014, the city of JOY turned into the city of JOE( Joy of Education) as more than 5000 Kolkatans ran to show that they care!!

CSRT 17, CCLC 27 and KVRT 227’s fundraiser was not only big in scale and gamut but also in heart and spirit. All of us tried in our own small way to bring a smile on some needy kid and let him experience the true joy of life- the joy of education!! Our twinklers had a novel idea of teaming up the marathon with the message of Swacch Bharat and conceptualised the Swacch Bharat Walk.

All our twinklers spiritedly made charts n posters n wrote slogans and captions about the need of cleanliness and hygiene! They also cleaned up the area with their broomsticks and showed all the elders around that Swacch Bharat will no longer be a far fetched dream if all of us put our heart into the mission.

They also planted saplings thus emphasising the message that CLEAN and GREEN always go together. Our twinklers truly spent a meaningful day- a day which would bring meaning into so many kids’ lives!!!

November 14, 2014: Childrens Disco Halloween Theme

The fund raiser Children’s disco which went into its 14th year was a super hit this year. We sold more than 600 tickets for the event and had to put a house full board 4 days before the event. Children were calling through various sources for passes. Saying a no to them was heart breaking for us too. The theme did its magic too. The children were all dressed up in various avatars and looking very cute.
We applauded the efforts of all FRCs especially Cr. Nikita for flawless planning and execution of the event.
We all submitted our account details to the convenors. Cr. Ritu was praised for selling the highest number of tickets. It was informed that more than 2.5 lacs is the surplus money raised.

November 9, 2014: We went shopping on Sunday morning but it was different from a regular shopping spree. 35-40 girls from the girls orphanage “Child Care Home” were our companions for the shopping. We took them to Spencers Departmental Store at the Mani Square Mall. They were each given a budget of Rs.150/- to 175/- to shop things of their choice. The girls were very excited and were confused what to buy and what to leave.

Some of them chose deos, some chose nail paints, eatables, toiletries etc. Our twinklers accompanied us in the project and were equally guiding the little girls on what to buy. It was a joint project with CSRT17.
The Circle contribution for the project was Rs. 3750/- (50%), which includes transportation paid to the children.

The shopping went on for almost 2 hrs and the proud shoppers were displaying their prized shopping bags to each other. Smiles to cherish for a long long time.

November 15, 2014: This project was designed around various facets of Circling. We wanted to reach out to the beneficiaries directly.

As winters were approaching we thought to gift the wind cheaters to the cycle rickshaw pullers. They have to fight the windy mornings and chilly nights, hence the project was an instant yes for all. We got the wind cheaters printed with RTI and LC India logos for publicity.

50 rickshaw pullers were called at one prominent road. We put up the banner on the main road. They were served idlis and tea by us and Twinklers. then the jackets were handed over to them Immediately they all wore them and smiled for lots of pictures with us. All present were very satisfied with the project.
